How to choose the right health insurance?
With so many health insurers and healthcare plans on the market, it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. Before you choose it may be helpful to have more information on what is available.
Standard Healthcare Insurance
This will pay for the diagnosis and treatment of insured events in full, after any excess, upto specified limits. These policies often come in basic, mid range and comprehensive packages - these covering a mixture of in-patient, out-patient, physiotherapy, psychotherapy and other treatments.
Shared Responsibility
Covers similar treatments to standard healthcare insurance but will only pay a percentage of the costs. The outstanding amount will therefore need to be settled by you. This results in cheaper premiums but can still require a significant outlay if you require private treatment.
Cash Plans
When an insured event occurs, such as the diagnosis of a covered treatment, the insurer will pay out a specified lump sum to the policyholder. The policyholder can then either use the payout to cover private treatment or wait for treatment on the nhs and use the money as they please.
So if you want no hassle private healthcare cover when and where you need it, make sure you know what policy you require.
